ABOUT

There’s nothing like crossing the finishing line in first place, just like there’s nothing like scoring a home run to win you the league, or getting an ace-clutch to win you the game. Some of us, have maybe done so in our local races, Sunday leagues or in online matchmaking, but we all know there’s something that much more special about it when the best of the best get to do it against their peers. Live broadcasts of these surreal moments is what allows most of us to get even a pinch of that winning moment. As a commentator, I ensure that you get to live these moments to the fullest, with every emotion that they may entail.

Since 2020, I’ve been working in the world of commentary and broadcasting, first deep-diving into esports, where I gained the majority of my knowledge and experience in the profession and specialising in play-by-play. Recently, I have undertaken a new project and challenge; to branch out into the world of traditional sports. Primarily Sailing, a sport close to my heart as an already avid enthusiast and ex-competitor.

For someone to truly understand my love for broadcasting and commentary, I would recommend having a look at “My Esports Story” below.

My Esports Story:
Pavlos “ExWarrior” GEORGIOU

When I first encountered an esports tournament at my local comic con, I experienced an atmosphere I had never experienced before. The crowd jumping out of their seats, the energy, the sheer passion; an image in my head that will never escape me. The excitement and emotions of the crowd were partly triggered by the intense gameplay in the match, but what was truly guiding the energy in the room, was the voice of the commentator. That moment gave birth to a dream of mine. “One day I’ll be that voice”.

I started commentating locally in Cyprus, in 2016 at any type of local event going on at the time. It was a fairly on-and-off thing, as the thought of ever pursuing this as a job hadn’t quite made its way into my head yet. Then, one or two events a year was enough for me. Following my highschool graduation, my 14 months of mandatory militairy service, and my move to Amsterdam to pursue Computer Science at university, in 2020 I made the decision to put in the effort to get into esports commentary. All the while I was studying, I started collating material from my past work in Cyprus and started reaching out to various Tournament Organisers and Production Companies. The amateur tournament work that was available to me at the start slowly turned into work for semi-professional tournaments and as my craft improved so did the opportunities presented to me. The COVID 19 pandemic, showed an influx in online produced shows, eventually giving me the opportunity to be working on online shows pretty much every single week. By the end 2021 I had already established myself as one of the best up-and-coming prospects of tier 2 CS:GO broadcasters, already been given opportunities at in-Studio productions across Europe for both CS:GO and VALORANT. The year 2022, I would consider my “break-out” year as my work in the “Home Sweet Home” and later on “Champion of Champions” online circuit together with a series of online tournaments called the “Pinnacle Cups”, had been recognised, and from which I was picked out and was hired to cover my first ever International LAN in Sweden, the “Pinnacle Cup Championship”, featuring some of the best teams in CS:GO in the world along with some of the biggest names of esports broadcasters. That same year I made appearances in VALORANT’s biggest European and Asian circuits “VCT EMEA” and “VCT APAC”. My success and constantly increasing traction as a commentator in the First-Person-Shooter genre catapulted me to more and more opportunities and by the time 2022 was over, I had already traveled to 8 different countries that year alone for work (United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Ireland, Switzerland, India). I am now a core member of the broadcast talent crew of VCT EMEA based in Berlin, sharing the pleasure of experiencing the peak of VALORANT competition with 50,000+ online viewers at a time along with an arena filled up with a live audience week in, week out.
